ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Head Coach, the primary purpose of the position will be to coordinate and coach the Forwards & Set-Piece component of overall coaching plan to a standard of excellence that will compete at a Super Rugby level. In partnership with a multidisciplinary team, the role will also assist in the development and delivery of a High Performance environment that provides a best practice setting for Players to develop and enhance their abilities to the fullest potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Professional Standards

  • Act as a senior leader for the Team, contributing leadership and guidance to the High Performance program
  • Assist toward the creation of a clear vision and culture for the team based on instilling core values and principles
  • Demonstrate the highest levels of honesty, integrity and professional standards at all times
  • Have an awareness of and comply with all relevant statutory, competition, organisation and cultural standards, policies and regulations

Management & Planning

  • Assist with the design and implementation of the Team’s coaching plan including periodised and content planning that covers pre-season, in-season and post-season objectives and performance indicators
  • Lead the design and implementation of Forwards coaching strategies
  • In partnership with High Performance staff, assist with the development of a training schedule and match day preparation program to maximise team performance


Coaching

  • Lead the Forwards coaching to a standard of excellence that improves consistently and is aligned to the values of the Team and Organisation
  • Scrum - lead the development of strong individual and team scrum processes and techniques to ensure the scrum functions at its highest level
  • Lineout/Maul - lead the development of individual positional requirements and processes, attack and defence roles to ensure a cohesive unit is formed.
  • Develop tactical game plans including weekly preview and review with Head Coach and Performance Analyst
  • Measure Forwards & Set-Piece performance against key performance indicators outlined and agreed at the commencement of each training phase
  • Assist with individual player skill development in partnership with Head Coach and other specialist coaches
  • Ensure that Players have a clear understanding and respect for the Laws of the Game. Facilitate the appropriate application of these laws through effective and regular communication with Players and Match Officials.
  • Seek continuous learning and education on game trends and Laws of the Game including their impact on the Game and Players
  • Identify and seek professional development opportunities to acquire ongoing learning and improvement as a Coach

Selection

  • Working within the Team’s selection policy, assist with the selection of the weekly Team throughout the Super Rugby season in consultation with Head Coach
  • Provide feedback to Players on a regular basis regarding factors relating to performance or otherwise
  • With the Head Coach, promote opportunities for non-23 players to attain future selection
  • In consultation with the Head Coach and FRU, provide input and guidance towards the selection of Forwards as part of a wider in a talent identification program which includes but not limited to Skipper Cup and Age grade programs

Development

  • Assist to ensure that all prospective players undertake and adhere to pre-season strength and conditioning programmes, and medical rehab /prehab as required
  • Assist to conduct squad/team training camps as appropriate.
  • Actively promote players for national representation
  • Be available for coaching support and development as required from time to time
  • Fully utilise all available technologies (i.e. Performance Analysts, GPS, Hudl Sportscode etc) to analyse, understand and develop Individual and Team Forwards/Set-Piece performances
  • Assist in the completion of Individual Development Plans (IDP) fo rall players prior to commencement of pre season training

Stakeholder Relations

  • Advocate on behalf of players, promoting their ability and performance as and where appropriate
  • Build relationships with local Coaches and Provincial Unions, sharing individual knowledge and experience to assist in the development of coaching and identification of emerging players throughout Fiji
  • Be available and responsive to media requirements and requests to comment on Team matters as agreed and where appropriate
  • Be available to attend, promote or engage in Competition, Corporate or Promotional events, activations and meetings where required
  • Maintain sound, professional working relationships with Match Officials

Title: Consumer Marketing and Communications Manager

Job Location: Nadi, Fiji

Employment Status: Full time

Reporting to the Head of Commercial & Marketing, this exciting new role will be responsible for delivering top quality marketing and communications programmes in line with the Club’s objectives. Fan engagement, and powerful partnerships with all stakeholders and advancing the Fijian Drua brand affinity are at the heart of this role.

Specific key responsibilities will include:

  • Delighting and exciting fans, players and stakeholders with a marketing and communications programme both in-season and off-season. This includes delivering marketing plans, actions and outputs aligned with the Club’s commercial & strategic objectives, to a quality and standard expected of a Super Rugby Pacific Franchise.
  • Maximising and leveraging the Fijian Drua’s digital assets which include a world class sporting website and a growing and engaged social media audience.
  • Adding value to the Fijian Drua’s growing sponsor, supplier and partner base.
  • Creating and/or approving copy for various channels for marketing advertising and communications purposes with commensurate persuasive writing skills per channel.
  • Specific revenue generation responsibilities for marketing and driving sales of match tickets, memberships, travel packages and hospitality products.
  • Helping build new products in the Corporate Hospitality and Membership space, driving new revenue platforms targeted to the corporate market and support development of a Fijian Drua membership programme which taps into the Fijian global rugby fan base.
  • Supporting the protection and advancement of the Fijian Drua Brand, including all Fijian Drua Licensing matters and brand protection.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Relevant senior-level experience in marketing, corporate communications, public relations or fields in sports or the corporate sector.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Media, Event Management and/or related disciplines.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in persuasive writing (including editorial), creative thinking and maximising audience engagement opportunities on social media platforms.
  • Experience working with local and international media, professional athletes and sports franchises.
  • An absolute love and passion for sports.

Title: Media and Content Officer

Job Location: Nadi, Fiji

Employment Status: Full time

Reporting to the Head of Commercial & Marketing, this exciting new role promotes and advances the Fijian Drua brand by servicing media and broadcast partners as well as creating video and editorial content. Proactively servicing media and broadcast requirements alongside capturing and creating compelling content are at the heart of this role.

Specific key responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with Club athletes, officials and management to meet weekly media and broadcast requirements both in-season and off-season. This includes occasional travel with the team, facilitating in-personal and virtual interviews in consultation with internal stakeholders.
  • Generating additional media placements with local and international media partners.
  • Creating and editing compelling editorial, photo and video content to drive fan, audience and stakeholder engagement, capturing athlete and staff interviews, b-roll and audio bytes as required.
  • Ongoing vigilance to ensure continued protection and promotion of the Fijian Drua brand.
  • Adding value to the Fijian Drua’s growing sponsor, supplier and partner base.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Relevant experience in media management, content creation in the media, corporate communications, public relations or marketing fields.
  • A keen eye for sports, news and content placement and a passion for rugby.
  • Existing strong relationships in the media.
  • Experience working in a sports or similarly fast-paced environment
  • Excellent spoken and written English & excellent spoken vosa vakaviti language skills.
  • Extremely high skill level for photography & video content (creation and editing) creatively & quickly. This includes reels and correcting formatting for multi-purpose use, including social media. A demonstration will be required.
  • Experience working with local and international media, professional athletes and sports franchises will be advantageous.

Title: Creative and Design Officer

Job Location: Nadi, Fiji

Employment Status: Full time

Reporting to the Head of Commercial & Marketing, this extremely important new role looks after the creation and production of all design requirements of the Fijian Drua and its associated entities.

At the heart of this role are requirements to create high quality, compelling graphics and designs across a number of commercial and operational areas in alignment with the Fijian Drua’s brand guidelines. Creativity and initiative and willingness to ‘push the line’ are absolutely essential for this role.

Specific key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing creatives, artwork and graphics for a number of applications, including branding, signage, advertising and marketing collateral, tickets, brochures, prospectus, presentations, reports, merchandise and others.
  • Delivering above-mentioned to the required Fijian Drua brand guidelines quality, print / publishing deadlines and formats, including digital signage, billboards, advertising, LED, print applications and social media.
  • Maintaining, updating and managing the entire suite of digital, audio, visual, print assets of the Fijian Drua and its associated entities in an easily accessible and shareable way.
  • Creative and design input into the Commercial and Event (including Matchday) Operations.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to edit photos and videos for brand promotion and other purposes.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Relevant experience in graphic and creative design.
  • Huge amounts of creativity and willingness to push the boundaries of creative design by testing new ideas
  • A hunger for learning, growth and development through researching and testing new ideas.
  • Extremely high skill and practice with relevant design and video editing software – Illustrator, Abode Suite, InDesign and/or equivalent. A demonstration will be required.
  • A keen eye for creative placement opportunities and a passion for rugby.
  • Experience working in a sports or similarly fast-paced environment will be advantageous.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
  • Photography and videography skills will be advantageous.
